The diversity and density of New York City has inspired countless cultural fusions, as communities living side-by-side borrow from, innovate, and are inspired by each other’s cultures. From the 1920s to the 1950s, Jewish composers and musicians were inspired by their fellow New Yorkers’ jazz, swing and blues traditions.
