Giants of the Lower East Side: Passover Walking Tour
April 4 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm$30
On this Lower East Side trek, explore a cast of turn-of-last century figures, and the buildings where they lived, worked and prayed. Your tour starts in the historic sanctuary of the Eldridge Street Synagogue where you will learn about the characters associated with this fabulously restored house of worship. Enjoy a small kosher nosh before hitting the streets to see the building that housed a newspaper edited by a famous Yiddish Socialist, the settlement house founded by a tenacious 26-year-old nurse, a yeshiva associated with one of this century’s most famous rabbis, and a former Bank building currently undergoing a major renovation. Finish with a visit to the magnificent and vibrant Bialystoker Synagogue, including a memorial plaque to a noted gangster. This tour is co-sponsored by The Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy.
Tickets: $30 in advance. $32 day-of. More information and tickets available with the Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy or by contacting (212) 374-4100 Ext 2 or email@example.com.
