The Museum at Eldridge Street is based in the 1887 Eldridge Street Synagogue. The Museum can only be seen by guided tour. Please note that we have printed foreign language tours available in German, French, Italian and Spanish. Reservations are required

The Museum at Eldridge Street is honored to share this landmark space with Congregation Kahal Adath Jeshurun, which has met continuously for Sabbath and holiday services since the building first opened more than a century ago.

Our award-winning restoration puts you in the footsteps of the synagogue's 19th-century founders. Interactive displays reveal the story of our landmark and its gateway neighborhood.

A museum docent will visit your space and bring the Eldridge Street story to you. Explore the history of the 1887 Eldridge Street Synagogue, the first grand house of worship built by Eastern European Jews in America. Learn about the Jewish immigrant community, their challenges, choices and adaptations. Explore the Lower East Side, home to generations of immigrants. Discover the exuberant architecture and design of the Eldridge Street Synagogue, and the story of the building’s dramatic rescue and restoration. An accompanying slideshow illustrates the narrative with historic and contemporary photographs.
The Microsoft PowerPoint Slideshow requires a working computer and projector or large screen monitor to be provided by your organization. The presentation lasts one hour, plus time for questions.
