PROJECTS The final phase of the Synagogue restoration
is predominately aesthetic. This work will repair and reintroduce the Synagogue's
original, gorgeous stained glass, restore the building's historic paint finishes,
and repair and re-install key elements, including a grand, central chandelier,
exterior rooftop finials, and the sanctuary's original wooden pews. This is the
work to which all involved in the restoration of this magnificent landmark have
been most anticipating, and for which the Eldridge Street Project is currently
raising funds. The following list describes this phase of work in more detail:
- Plastering & fine arts historic paint finishes

stained glass window restoration
- Pointing and
terra cotta restoration on the façade
- Restoration
of historic wooden staircase
- Replacement of central
chandelier
- Restoration of sanctuary furnishings:
Bimah, Lectern, Ark
- Restoration of pews/benches

Victorian lighting fixtures

visitors center

finials on façade
