Parashat Hashavuah: Ancient Custom, New Twist
A contemporary take on the Jewish practice of weekly Torah study, this 21st-century study uses pre-rabbinic commentaries as well as approaches by archaeologists and modern Israeli and American scholars. No Hebrew or previous knowledge required. Led by Museum scholar-in-residence Dr. Regina Stein.
Fee: $10 per class

Hot Cider Walking Tour of the Lower East Side
Meet at the Eldridge Street Synagogue and start with a sampling of the Lower East Side’s best: bialys from Kossar’s; pickles from The Pickle Guys; and hot cider. Then take to the streets to visit neighborhood landmarks that tell the story of the political, religious, social and cultural life of the Jewish immigrant community: Seward Park and Library, the Forward newspaper building, Jarmulowsky’s bank, the sites of the famous Garden Cafeteria, the Loews movie house, a Yeshiva, former synagogues, and more.
$20 adults; $15 students and seniors

Rugelach Making Workshops
Learn how to make - and then eat! - delicious rugelach of the chocolate, cinnamon, fruit and poppy-seed varieties. All ingredients are kosher. Then enjoy a tour of our magnificent landmark space, the 1887 Eldridge Street Synagogue.
$10 adults; $8 students/seniors - Space is limited and RSVP is required. This is a one-time workshop - pick the date that works best for you.

Synagogue Tours, Rugelach Making & Activities for Families
The Museum is open all day on December 24. We will offer synagogue tours at 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3 & 4 pm. Other special activities include a Rugelach Making Workshop at 11 am, Hot Cider Walking Tour of the Lower East Side at 2 pm, and Scavenger Hunts and Rose Window Art Activity for families from 11 am to 1 pm. Space is limited for the Rugelach Workshops and Hot Cider Tour and reservations are required.
$10 adults; $8 students / seniors; $6 children ages 3-17; children under 3 are free

Klez for Kids & Synagogue Tours
The Museum is open all day on December 25. We will offer synagogue tours at 10, 11, 12, & 2 pm and family-friendly scavenger hunts throughout the day. At 1 pm, sing, dance and learn Yiddish at our annual family concert. Clarinetist Greg Wall and his band Klezmerfest lead the audience on a musical tour of Eastern European Jewish culture ending with a festive audience-enacted shtetl wedding.
$12 adults; $8 students / seniors; $6 children ages 3-17; children under 3 are free
